El concepto de contrabando, a lo largo de la historia, no se puede entender sin hacer referencia a la frontera como una división física, política y social. De esta manera, los habitantes de estas poblaciones transfronterizas, en situaciones de necesidad, tanto por atenuantes políticos como económicos, luchaban por buscar una salida, y esta lucha, a su vez, genera circunstancias que acaban por definir las relaciones culturales y sociales de sus habitantes.

Mediante el proyecto exploro la eclosión de una economía paralela reflexionando sobre un territorio transfronterizo, como es el valle del Bidasoa. A través de imágenes topográficas propongo un conjunto de relatos ocultos con el fin de deducir una serie de cambios derivados de las diferentes formas de comercio ilícito que configuraron el contrabando y la construcción de un nuevo sistema económico desde una dimensión poética, representando un objeto conceptual en una situación que normalmente sería dominio del periodismo, ocupándome de la problemática del equilibrio de poder partiendo de la idea de frontera, no como límite donde algo se detiene, sino como un símbolo a partir del cual surgen multitud de historias y alguna de ellas repletas de humildad.

The concept of smuggling, throughout history, cannot be understood without referring to the border as a physical, political and social division. In this way, the inhabitants of these cross-border populations, in situations of need, both for political and economic mitigations, struggled to find a way out, and this struggle, in turn, generates circumstances that end up defining the cultural and social relations of their population.

Through the project, I explore the emergence of a parallel economy reflecting on a cross-border territory, such as the Bidasoa valley. Through topographic images, I propose a set of hidden stories in order to deduce a series of changes derived from the different forms of illegal trade that shaped contraband and the construction of a new economic system from a poetic dimension, representing a conceptual object in a situation that would normally be the domain of journalism, dealing with the problem of the balance of power starting from the idea of ​​a border, not as a limit where something stops, but as a symbol from which many stories emerge and some of them full of humility.
